以前其實也很少唱起這首歌，大概是年紀夠了，很多事情回味起來，特別有感覺。
上網查了一下這首歌，還真有點年紀，比我還要老。首次演唱是在1960年。
回憶，很特別的東西。某種情愫，只在特定的年紀有，而回憶，卻是在翻騰過後，沉澱下來的記憶。有些回憶是屬於很多人共有，而有些回憶卻是屬於個人的美好時光。我不是一個很擅於記仇的人，常常不愉快的事或不愉快的人很快就忘記了，大概是選擇性記憶，只記得美好的、快樂的、溫馨的片段。
回憶，有時只是一種感覺，某個路口、某種光線、某種味道、某種氛圍，都會讓人想起曾經發生的事，會把曾經走過生命中一些重要的人，再度帶回生命中。也許不再交會，但觸及卻是心靈深處。
這首歌很特別的提到9月，還有12月。我不知道作者為何特別選這些月份?也許是為了押韻，也許這些月份是作者記憶深處曾發生的事情的月份，但無論如何，我是這樣看:
九月，一年之中，不在前面，在中間偏後、在後段偏前的月份，像一個人步入中年之後， 生命給的歷練，已經有某種練達，但是也有某些迷濛，總之，對人生已有另一番看見。而十二月，一年之底，像是生命的盡頭，像歌詞所言:

九月的熾火使我們覺得醺醺然
Deep in December our hearts should remember and follow
在十二月，我們心裡應該記得，讓這份感覺持續……
走過、痛過、擁有過、失去過、歡喜過、悲傷過……這些，才是人生。
